T-2800 PTFS
The T-2800 precision temperature forcing system (PTFS) is our first fully self-contained unit. No external air source of any kind is required. Simply plug in the power cord, and begin testing electronic components. First seen at Semicon West 2002, the system continues to receive a very enthusiastic response from customers.
Key features of the T-2800 include:
- Self-contained air source
- Temperature range of -60C to 200C
- Integrated support arm and thermal test head
- Menu-driven operator interface
- Remote control capability
- Temperature cycling capability
- Programmble preset keys
- System self-diagnostics
Self-Contained Air Source
The air source is built into the system, eliminating the costs associated with installing and maintaining a facilities air source. Maintenance of the integral air source is minimal. The airflow rate is 300 SCFH.
Support Arm
Provides
precise positioning and placement of the thermal test head over the device
under test (DUT) and assures superior integration of the DUT with the air
stream for effective temperature control.
The support arm, which represents a new design concept for Thermonics' PTFS product line, is counterbalanced for easy positioning of the test head. The arm provides a reach of up to 44 inches and 330 degrees of rotation about the main pivot point. Up/down and in/out adjustments are manual.
Operator Interface
The T-2800's user interface contains a four-line, 80-character display panel, a data entry keypad and three preset keys. The panel presents status information, error messages and configuration items, menus and operator prompts to provide easy operator control of the system.
Menu-driven control software provides flexibility in
configuring the system for specific applications. Items that you may configure
include temperature setpoint, temperature control type (air or DUT), soak
time, and temperature ramp rate. Additional menus provide guidance for service
issues such as the calibration process.
Three programmable preset keys enable the user to store commonly used application parameters for easy recall and reuse. Set-up parameters are stored in non-volatile memory.
Remote Control
The T-2800 can be communicated with remotely via the RS-232C, IEEE-488 and Tester interfaces. This provides the ability to access, read and modify operating parameters such as temperature setpoints, actual sensed temperature, soak times and temperature ramp rate from a remote computer, terminal or other device.
Temperature Cycling Capability
A temperature cycling feature enables the system to perform a sequence of tests in an automated fashion. Up to 99 separate test temperatures, with varying test criteria, may be programmed and stored into the system.
Rear Panel
The
rear connector panel of the T-2800 contains the following connectors. Note
it does not have an air input connector because no external air is required.
- IEEE-488 interface
- RS-232C interface
- Tester interface
- Circuit breaker
